VPXL is a medication used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED). It works by increasing blood flow to the penis. VPXL is a phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor. VPXL is available as a generic drug. It is not available in the United States.
VPXL is used to treat ED. VPXL is a PDE5 inhibitor. VPXL increases blood flow to the penis. This helps men to get and maintain an erection.
VPXL may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.
Important Information
You should not use VPXL if you are allergic to it.
To make sure VPXL is safe for you, tell your doctor if you have ever had:
heart disease or heart rhythm problems;
a stroke;
high or low blood pressure;
a bleeding disorder;
blood circulation problems;
sickle cell anemia (a genetic disease of red blood cells);
multiple myeloma (cancer of the white blood cells);
leukemia (cancer of the white blood cells);
a stomach ulcer;
retinitis pigmentosa (an inherited condition of the eye);
if you have ever had vision loss caused by a condition called non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION);
if you have ever had an erection that lasted more than 4 hours; or
if you have ever had a heart attack, stroke, or life-threatening heart rhythm problem.
Do not take VPXL with similar medications such as avanafil (Stendra), sildenafil (Viagra), tadalafil (Cialis), or vardenafil (Levitra).
Taking VPXL with a nitrate medicine can cause a sudden and serious decrease in blood pressure.
Some medicines can cause unwanted or dangerous effects when used with VPXL. Your doctor may change your treatment plan if you use any of the following drugs:
bosentan;
conivaptan;
imatinib;
isoniazid;
nefazodone;
nicardipine;
phenobarbital;
phenytoin;
rifampin;
St. John's wort;
an antibiotic--azithromycin, clarithromycin, erythromycin, levofloxacin, linezolid, oxacillin, pentamidine, telithromycin;
antifungal medicine--itraconazole, ketoconazole, posaconazole, voriconazole;
heart rhythm medicine--amiodarone, disopyramide, dofetilide, dronedarone, flecainide, ibutilide, procainamide, quinidine, sotalol; or
HIV or AIDS medicine--atazanavir, indinavir, nelfinavir, ritonavir, saquinavir.

Take VPXL exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Follow all directions on your prescription label and read all medication guides or instruction sheets. Your doctor may occasionally change your dose.
VPXL is usually taken only when needed, about 30 minutes before sexual activity. You may take it up to 4 hours before sexual activity. Do not take VPXL more often than once daily.
Do not take this medicine with water.
To treat erectile dysfunction-ED, there are 2 ways that tadalafil may be prescribed. Your doctor will determine which is the best way for you to take tadalafil.
Swallow the tablet whole with a full glass of water.
Do not split the tablet. Doing so can release all of the drug at once, increasing the risk of side effects.
If you are also taking an alpha blocker medication (such as doxazosin, tamsulosin, or terazosin) to treat an enlarged prostate/BPH or high blood pressure, your blood pressure may get too low which can lead to dizziness or fainting. Your doctor may start you on a lowered dosage of tadalafil or a different medication schedule.
Do not take VPXL if you are also using a nitrate drug for chest pain or heart problems. This includes nitroglycerin, isosorbide dinitrate, and isosorbide mononitrate. Nitrates are also found in some recreational drugs such as amyl nitrate or nitrite ("poppers"). Taking tadalafil with a nitrate medicine can cause a sudden and serious decrease in blood pressure.
Some medicines can cause unwanted or dangerous effects when used with tadalafil. Your doctor may change your treatment plan if you use any of the following drugs:

any other erectile dysfunction medicine;
any medicine to treat high blood pressure;
any medicine to treat HIV or AIDS;
antifungal medicine--ketoconazole or itraconazole;
barbiturate medicine--phenobarbital;
Seizure medicine--phenytoin; or
tuberculosis medicine--rifampin or rifabutin.
